Kamburu and Gitaru are government-owned hydro schemes in Kenya with 90MW and 225MW installed capacity respectively. Hydroplan was employed by the Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KenGen Ltd) as a subcontractor to Mowlem International during the repair and refurbishment of the tailraces in 1999-2000.

Hydroplan’s role was to carry out the design and on-site supervision of the water pumping system and stop logs for tunnel de-watering during a critical outage.
