Nepal Hydro – Business Opportunities for UK Business

2016 marked the 200th anniversary of diplomatic relations between UK and Nepal. Following their recent visit to Nepal, the Lord Mayor and Sheriff Peter Estlin  gathered a group of practitioners from the investment management, financial services and engineering industries to explore opportunities for British companies in Nepal.

Nepal is blessed with tremendous capacity for medium to large scale hydropower. There is already an established and growing hydropower sector in Nepal, and the Government of Nepal is keen to attract foreign investment and skills to meet their targets for domestic supply as well as exports to energy-hungry India and Bangladesh.

Over 100 delegates attended the briefing, which was held at the Mansion house, London on the 22nd March 2017.

Prior to the event, the British Embassy Kathmandu commissioned a report, to which Hydroplan was one of the main contributors, to help UK companies assess the potential for exporting goods, services and finance to the hydropower sector in Nepal – the report was distributed at the briefing in London.
